Included in this area are articles, books, and other resources on various DEI-related topics. In reviewing the articles, leaders are encouraged to take notes and actively engage the information by asking themselves the following questions:
1. What? This addresses the key points that the leader has taken away from the resource. This may include both information that the leader agrees with and info that they question.
2. So What? Leaders should determine what the impact of the information is as it relates to their position, behaviors, activities, and/or company policies. This involves exploring why the information could be meaningful to their work and results as a leader.
3. Now What? The last step is to actively engage the information by deciding what the leader will do next with this information. This might include discussions with colleagues or their upper management, formulating effective personal or team goals that align with the information, or completing further study into the topic. Ideally, this is a list of no more than three action items so that this process remains manageable and not overwhelming.
Note: This information is simply a start. Most of the websites include more DEI articles and information. Be curious, take risks, and go deep as you embark on a journey to learn more about yourself and others.
